A local citizen’s group known as “The Friends of Firefighters” raised $25,000 for the purchase of a CairnsIris thermal imaging device. This device gives firefighters the ability to see through smoke thereby reducing the amount of time needed to search for someone who may be trapped in a burning structure. The fire department is currently accepting donations to purchase a second thermal imaging device which will be a hand held unit to compliment our helmet mounted device.
Anyone wishing to make a donation for this life saving tool, or for more information, may contact the fire department at 610-258-8746.
