History

Wilson Borough started utilizing canine within the Department in 1981. Patrolman Cal Siegfried started training his first canine partner with the help of the City of Easton Canine Unit. Since 1981 Wilson has had as many as three canine teams in the department. They included Sgt. Dave Rogers with partner “Barron”, Patrolman Larry Hendershot and partner “Moodich” and Patrolman Tim Sullivan and partner “Cay”. Patrolman Mike Potope joined the Wilson Canine Corps with his partner “Sabre” in 1997.

Wilson Borough has used the canine teams effectively during crowd control, building searches, area searches. tracking and narcotic searches. The Canine Corps has also assisted other area departments when a canine team is needed.

Training

Our canine teams train two times a month for patrol duty and one additional time monthly for narcotic detection. Our training is done with the assistance of Master Trainer Castle, who also trains teams with the City of Easton and the Township of Palmer. All the canine teams are certified by the North American Police Work Dog Association.

Thank You

The Canine Corps would not be possible without the support of our Chief (Steven Parkansky) and the Wilson Borough Council.

Thank You !!!!!
